In London’s narrow, foggy streets, whispers tell of a taxi that prowls after midnight. Known as the “Black Taxi,” this vintage cab has haunted the city’s imagination for decades. According to legend, those who ride it never return.
The Black Taxi looks ordinary — indistinguishable from any other cab. It appears out of the mist when you’re walking alone at night. The driver, expressionless, opens the door silently. Once inside, the doors shut… and the journey begins.
Passengers have described the interior as unnaturally cold, with windows fogged over and shadows clinging to the seats. Those who glance at the driver in the mirror say his face seems blurred, as if it were just a mask. He never speaks, only nods, then starts driving through the labyrinth of empty streets.
The few who have been found after riding report being abandoned miles away, in desolate fields or quiet woods, unable to recall what happened. Many are left confused, some never regain their sanity.
Londoners warn each other: avoid walking alone on foggy nights. If a black cab pulls up and the driver doesn’t speak — don’t get in. Once you ride, you’re on his route, and his final stop is said to lie in a world of lost souls.
Even now, people crossing Westminster Bridge at night claim to see a black cab gliding toward the river, its driver fading into the darkness. Nobody has solved the mystery, but everyone knows: the Black Taxi always returns.
