In southern Jordan, near the shores of the Dead Sea, lived the people of Lot. Prophet Lot called them to faith in God and morality. Yet they refused, persisting in sin and defiance.

Lot warned them repeatedly: “What you do invites the wrath of our Lord.” But they mocked and tried to drive him out. Finally, God’s angels rescued Lot and the believers, leading them out of the city.

At night, the sky lit up with a terrifying glow. The ground split, stones rained down, and the cities were overturned. Only a salt-covered lake and ruins of despair remained.

This story, told many times in the Qur’an, stands as a warning: Arrogance, immorality, and denial bring God’s punishment. Even today, looking at the Dead Sea reminds visitors of this lesson.
